Back to winning waysPosted on Tuesday Jun 2 0:00:00 BST 2009 Well, after a couple of back to back losses it was good to get back to winning ways last sunday. It was a great all round team performance - I know the oppo's batting imploded but we can only beat what is in front of you. Not sure any of us could quite explain why so many of the Riverside batsmen decided to play such agressive shots, but we should not take anything away from our bowlers, who out thought and bowled good lengths to force the errors. Once again Casper shone with his four wickets, which took him past JULC to become the clubs leading wicket taker. But all the bowlers played their part and I thought Garsh and Deano were equally as good whilst Chucky and M'Nig just did not have the luck. Of course you still have to take your catches and with the Borg leading the way we made some difficult chances look easy - Ming and Hippo both taking 2 cathces each. Its not always easy to chase a smallish target and so when we came to the batting it was important we got a good start (especially as out tail was reasonably long) and thanks to Hippo and Ming we laid a great foundation and Hippo at last broke his 20ish and out run of form to get his second 50 for the club. This sunday sees us with another TBA, so at this stage I am not sure who we will be playing. With Myself (10 days in Cyprus await) and Garsh not available Smut has kindly agreed to take charge (duties that I think he hoped he had avoided now he had stepped down from VC) but Smut did have a valid point on Sunday that we were not alert to drinks being due at 20 overs and also keeping the scoreboard up dated - those and umpiring are duties none of should try to shirk from...lets keep in mind chaps. I will be back from hols in the 12th, just in time for the tough away game at Byfleet on the 14th, as a result the web site will not be updated until after the Byfleet game.
Good luck for sunday and lets hope the weather stays good and we can get another win
