One extreme to another

Well, you would have struggled to find two more contrasting performances. With me having a few weeks break Windy led the team at what was expected to be a tough game at Claygate. After heavy overnight rain it was a surprise that Clayagte skipper elected to bat first, which played right into our hands. With the bowlers all playing their part to dismiss their "strong batting line up" was quite an achievement. What a return by the Borg as well 5-5-0-3 no one has ever managed that for Kings before. Its not unusual for someone to pick up may 1 or 2 wickets for no runs, but to bowl 5 maiden on the trot and take 3 wickets..Borg doing it with both bat and ball - good for him. Of course when we came to bat it was a one man show - The Nanage show! He blasted his second unbeaten fifty in as many innings and left poor old Windy in his slipstream. I think I am right that Wind was on 3 when Nange reached his half century. But just when you think we are hitting our straps and set ourselves up for a revenge victory over Strollers the wheels fall of the truck completely. With VC Garsh leading the side we let a good start slip away and they ended up with close to 200 - this despite good bowling from Hippo, Cheify and Casper - who took his wicket tally to 33 for the season. But the lack of a 5th bowler cost us - but with the batting we had we should have neen capable of chasing that score on the Kempton pitch. However take nothing away from Strollers Mr Smith - who with his 7-30 put in one of the best bowling performances against us for several years. The horrid collapse that followed, 6 wickets for 9 runs was truely horrid and one we need to accept but now move on from. Other notable performances in this game was 3 good catches by Hippo, Smut's bowling debut whilst we may want to forget Casper's day in the field!!

Next up are Sulhamstead, which in recent years has been a happy hunting ground for us, but this one will be tough. We go into the game without our top five run scorers this season and without our two leading wicket takers. So it will be time for some us lesser lights to step up and try and fill their boots. It will be tough, but the key will be making sure, no matter what the result, we go out there and have some fun, relax and play our games to the best of our ability. If we go out trying too hard and worrying about the lack of the key performers then we will surely make a dogs dinner of it!!

You will see I have added a page for some fun pics...if you are creative and want something added - send it through to me and I will add it!
