Its been a while

Sorry guys, its been a while since I have done a blog...so much has happened since the last one I am not sure where to start! Well its September now and there are only four games to go to the end of the season. Its been a very different season to what we have been used to - we have got used to racking up wins and being the dominate force but this year 8 defeats from 16 games leaves us just one defeat from setting a record for the most defeats in a season. Having said that its been a different season all round - we have used so many players we have never had a consistent side out week to week. Recent weeks have been the usual August nightmare - in fact it started at the end of July when we had a much weakened team at Sulhamstead, and that was followed by having to put much understrength team out against Customs, a game which saw Chucky become the youngest ever Kings skipper, it was shame the game ended in defeat. Two weeks later and we had only four players to available and as a result we ended up entering a team for the Kempton 6-a-side, our guys, who entered under the name of the "SPITTERS" were the only side to win all their group games and qualified for the final, unfortnately we lost at the final hurdle. In between we thrahsed Teddington Town, cheifly thanks to a marvellous innings by Hippo. Then it was back down to earth when we ourselves were smashed round the park by Kingfishers batsmen. This game saw Jez Williams make his debut for us, and hopefully Jez will be with us full on next year, and will show us what he can do! In the same game it was great to see Chucky finally pick up his 100th career wicket, whilst Tig took his 350th! Likewise it was good to see Deviant and Casper both getting fifties - something which we have not been short of this season, I think thats now 11 different players who have made fifty or more and 15 50's (and 1 century) in all! I guess its been the wicket taking that was the main problem, other than Pipey and Hippo no one was in double figures until recent weeks and its now good to see that both Tig and M'Nig are there as well with the likes of Cheify and Chucky starting to catch up as well.  The recent weeks of lack of availability have been a real challenge, this has not been helped by the announcement from Mince that he is calling a halt to his playing days and that Dean Wells has also vanished, after what was a promising start to his career. On top of this Garsh has been recovering from a hernia op, which I pleased to say is well on the mend and he should be back this week for the presidents match. So with all this going on, plus the usual holiday period, I am grateful to the likes of Big Al, Shannon Miah etc who have been willing to come help us out, in the same breath let me also thank Space, the President was very happy to be making his first and second appearances of the season in the last few weeks and now he is living back up Sunbury way we have high hopes of him being around for next year for more games. I think we are going through a transitional period at the moment, and the fresh input of the ultra keen Paulo, Nange and as I have mentioned Jez will really pay dividends next season. Of course it easy to priase those who help out here and there and forget the ones who have been there week in and week out, so we should not forget the likes of Smut, Chucky, M'Nig and few others who played week in week out during the lean month of August. Whilst talking of M'Nig, if you missed the Kingfisher game then you missed the best tea out EVER - superb job by M'Nig who did not even consider saying no when I asked if he could do teas that week - then the week after there he is bowling 18 overs on the spin!
One final bit of news, and that is arrangements for next years tour are well under way - this will be two 20/20 matches, followed by a game Saturaday afternoon, and then a Sunday game starting at 11:00. More details to follow but guys, start putting the first weekend in July in your diaries (and the Thursday and Friday before!)
Anyway guess I have said enough for now, really looking forward to the Presidents game
